Red Crucible 2

About Red Crucible 2

Red crucible 2 is an online, free-to-play browser based FPS game created by Rocketeer Games Studios that was first released to the public on 26th August 2010. The game itself is based on a fictional war between NATO and the Soviet Union in the early 1990s. As of right now, the game currently consists of 2 teams, 16 arenas, 5 types of games and 5 game modes. Over the years, it has gone through multiple revisions and redesigns to improve the gameplay and the overall feel of the game itself. It started life as Red Crucible 1 then with further update, it moved on to Red Crucible 1.6 then to the current Red Crucible 2 as we know it.

The improvements of RC2 over RC1 were numerous:

  • RC1 had no store at all, no inventory and had a simple loadout selection.

  • It also had only four maps namely Kiev, Trace, Frankfurt and A7.

  • Favela was a part of RC1, but was removed early on.

  • M203 and BG40 were the assault rifles.

  • M249 SAW and PKMG were the machine guns.

  • M21 and SVD Dragunov were the sniper rifles.

  • AT4 and RPG-18 were the demolition weapons.

  • The sprint feature wasn’t in the game, and plenty of places were climbable like the old ramp in Kiev.

  • It also had plenty of bugs and fall damage was not implemented yet.

  • It also had no tier system and profile displays were also very different

Red crucible 2, Red crucible. First Person Shooter. Red Crucible 2 is a Unity-powered synchronous multiplayer first-person shooter in which players can compete in large-scale battles on sprawling, open maps in an attempt to prove their skills.

History

The game started life by a hobbyist who had a passion for miniature models of tanks and trucks such as T80 Tanks and BTRs. He started the game by recreating his tanks as 3D models then moved on to unity to make the foundations of the game itself.

The development of the models for Red Crucible began on Unity in 2007. The base models were laid out in a virtual environment and later more details were added.

These images show the initial modeling of the AH-64A Apache helicopters and also that of the Kiev-class aircraft carrier.

And these are the initial models of the AV-8B Harrier II and of the M2 Bradley.

And this picture showed the initial layout of a portion of the Sledgehammer map.

The game is playable from various sites like Wooglie.com, Kongregate.com, RocketeerGames.com and other sites.

As of right now, the game itself is being completely recreated and remodeled in its latest incarnation and will be called Red Crucible Firestorm. Firestorm is currently in beta mode and can be tested out here: www.rocketeergames.com/redcrucible/test.

The game consists of two teams, the blue team which is on the NATO side and the red team which is on the Soviet Union side. Each team can accept a maximum of 8 players.

The rounds are won if you and/or your team are able to defend the truck or eliminate all the enemies.

Arenas

A7 Autobahn

A7 Autobahn map is modeled after the longest highway in German, the Autobahn 7 set between the two small villages. The red team spawns in one of the villages while the blue team spawns in the other.

Favela

Red Crucible 2 Hacked

Favela is a map that is set in Brazil. The map features a steep setting and some tall accessible buildings from which you can snipe. The map’s road is rather curvy, and many buildings block your view of what’s ahead.

Kiev

Kiev is one of the earlier maps made in Red Crucible 2 and is modeled after the Kiev class aircraft carriers (also known as Project 1143 or as the Krechyet (Gyrfalcon) class) and were the first class of fixed-wing aircraft carriers built in the Soviet Union. The Red’s spawn on the bow and the Blues on the stern.

Red Dawn

Red Dawn takes place in an airport in east Germany. Players can enter and exit the planes with the side stairs and also through the tunnel located at terminal C1, C2, C3, C4. The tunnels make for great camping spot for hiding and camping on spawn points. The majority of the action takes place inside the building in the lobby or on the roof.

Sandstorm

Sandstorm is a middle eastern desert map with a desert base. This is quite a large map used for vehicle combat and sometimes can be difficult to navigate. Sandstorm has lots of rocks to hide behind and camouflaging yourself is easy if you have the right patterned outfit. There are quite a few tanks and helicopters in this map.

Sledgehammer

Sledgehammer is a rural arena set in a cluster of small German towns in the state of Bavaria. The three towns depicted in this arena are not true geographical representations of the actual towns. The red team spawns in Ginhart, the blue team spawns in Hohenfeld, and the town of Zeegendorf and a train station lie in between them. The arena is surrounded on all sides by pine trees and mountains reminiscent of the Bavarian Alps.

Island X

Island X is a mountainous, remote jungle filled with trees and bushes and containing two spawn buildings and a center bridge like section. The map itself consists of several high mountaintops, making it a great sniper map. Island X also features other extreme topography such as canyons, deep ditches and large piles of rocks strewn about at various locations on the map.

Frankfurt

Frankfurt is one of the earliest maps released on Red Crucible. It is based on the German City of Frankfurt, the largest city in the German state of Hessen. The map is rather gray and lacks enthusiasm in it. Most of the buildings are the same and appears to look as if they are large blue or other colored blocks. The map has many intersections and small alleyways.

Bosporus

Bosporus takes place on the famous Bosporus Bridge in Istanbul. It resembles the real-life bridge due to it’s characteristic blue supports, which light up blue during the night time. It has many cars which offer lots of cover. Each team spawns on opposite sides of the bridge.

The Refinery

The Refinery is an arena that is located in the oil refinery facility in the center of the 73 Eastings map. This map just like the Trace are night maps. So navigating the map in certain dark areas can be very tricky. Also this map has a tendency of being quite repetitive, so at first there will be a bit of confusion as to the actual location of the player.

73 Easting

73 Easting is a very large arena with helicopters, jump jets and land based vehicles. Due to the wide, large open space available, it is easier to travel by planes or helicopters as those mode of transport take the least amount of time. Located in the middle of the map and also used in The Refinery map is an oil refinery.

Grimrog

Crucible

Grimrog is an arena that is located in a wide bay. The map is by far one of the largest and widest maps although in terms of features, details and buildings, it is one of the least detailed map in the game. Grimrog includes ships, VTOL jets such as the Harrier Jump Jet, and Apache helicopters.

Maelstorm

Maelstrom is a map that takes place in the middle of the ocean. It features two ships, acting as spawn points for the Red and Blue Team, and a oil rig in the middle of the map. The oil rig has a helicopter landing pad and 2 anti-air guns.

Frostbite

Frostbite is a small town, near a military base, which is in the midst of a winter blizzard. The fact that it has a blizzard makes it a more interesting map as it is the only map to have the snowing animation besides Santa house.

The Trace

The Trace is designed to be located on the Inner German Border, or as the US Army referred to it, The Trace. This arena has an East German military camp on one side (where the red team spawns), and the town of Schlotzau on the other side (where the blue team spawns). It is divided in the middle by a river, crossed by two bridges.

Santa House

Santa House was released in December 2013. It is a small and compact map and is the second map along with Frostbite to have snow in it. This map is very fast paced and includes a lot of close quarter fighting.
